  4. To @ArchAngel72 was saying I think the term sex trafficing headline is a bit of sensationalism. Nothing I have seen seems to be sex trafficing, more or less your generic John bust.

  5. By definition malicious contact is a form of interference involving a runner and a fielder colliding (note there is no mention of a batter charging a pitcher to fight)-- 2019 NFHS rule 2 SECTION 21 INTERFERENCE—OFFENSIVE, UMPIRE, SPECTATOR ART. 1 . . . Offensive interference is an act (physical or verbal) by the team at bat: b. when a runner creates malicious contact with any fielder, with or without the ball, in or out of the baseline. 6. I forwarded this question on to the State Rules Interpreters in the two closest states to me. I have only heard back from the Oregon SRI. But his answer was short as sweet. (For you guys that know Tad, that is right on brand for him.) His response was "A. Path of least resistance."

  9. Malicious contact is not defined. However, it is generally accepted that it is contact as part of a baseball play which becomes excessive or intentionally injurious. Fighting and MC are two separate things and are mutually exclusive.

  10. I think it was the first year and we didn't use it until post season. I was a real good hitter and F2, but was not known for my foot speed. We were in a state playoff game and I went 3 for 4. For each hit, coach called time and brought in the speedster. I wasn't familiar with the rule and got real pi$$ed off when he took me out the second time; thinking I was done for the day. When I didn't put the equipment on the AC started yelling at me to get ready to go out there. I was so confused.

  13. Ok, a few things ... first, stop following that 'umpire auditor' on twitter second, don't over analyze what the MLB guys do. They are light-years beyond us mere mortals third, your strike 3 call should be what comes natural to you. Again, don't overthink it ....if it feels right, go with it

  15. I did, what feels like a lifetime ago. Went to the Evans school in '08. Came back to my job, and just working for different umpire orgs since. No college yet, although I haven't really put in the hard yards for it.
