Washing a TW chest protector

Of course, separate the pad vest from the carapace. If you’re washing the pad vest alone, skip the next step. If you’re washing it with other gear, it is best to get an inexpensive delicates laundry bag or sack, and put the pads in there to wash. You don’t want the Velcro to tear up other items.

It is best to use a sport wash or technical soap. Do not add fabric softener!!! Wash on cold (or warm, if you must, but do not use hot water). Once cleaned, either air dry or tumble dry on Low or Medium heat. Once again, do not use high heat.

You can use vinegar instead of fabric softener in your wash machine. It's great for killing germs, will help rinse out any soap residue and once it dries it leaves no odor. 

We do this for all our laundry. Also much cheaper than fabric softener.

@MadMax Could this be done with the pads of a Douglas as well, or will the inner padding have a hard time drying? Thanks!
