  Hello Everyone,

I was wondering what would it take to start an umpire association? Would this be like starting any other business? Is it possible or common to work for yourself independently other than working for an association? Pros and cons? I’m in California if that makes any difference.

Thanks for the input!

Many states allow schools to hire their own umpires, but you mostly see that for small schools and rural areas. If you are in a metro area, you're probably going to have to join an association in order to get any amount of games higher than the youth level.
