Positions

Question

No outs runners at the corners. Two man crew. Double play ball. What are BU's responsibilities? What are PU's responsibilities? Does PU follow BR up to the 45' line or remain at the plate?

BU has both ends of the double play. PU has runner from 3rd touching the plate or any play at the plate. You are not going up the line in this situation.

But, PU is going to move a bit to be able to help on the FPSR at second.

I would agree with this.  I may not go up to the 45, but I will move up the line a bit to get a good look at the slide at 2nd and then a pulled foot/swipe at 1st.  As PU, you are not that far away that you cannot get back into position to make a call at the plate.

Just a couple steps toward LH batters box (3rd base extended) should give PU an unobstructed look at 2nd for FPSR, easy to watch touch at home, and still have good angle if help is needed on pulled foot/swipe tag at 1st.  Always remember; angle trumps distance.

If you are working a game that uses OBR, FPSR is irrelevant, so PU will just stay at the point of the plate. Otherwise, move a few steps towards 3B to see the slide at second and keep the plate in view.

PBUC/MiLBUM might have PU cover 3B if R1 is not out at 2B and R3 scored without a play.
