Why do umpires say "safe"?  Nobody's in danger.  Everybody's safe.  And if the runner isn't safe there's a good chance that everyone around him isn't safe either....like if there's a cougar on the field (either kind).

Oh my, and here I thought it was to compliment 3 man mechanics with the Rolling Stones version of "time" in 1964.

Pink Floyd fans? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_(Pink_Floyd_song)

Chambers Brothers fans (they say/sing "Time!" the way it should be said)? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_Has_Come_Today

Hootie & the Blowfish fans? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_(Hootie_%26_the_Blowfish_song)

The Pink Floyd rendition of "Time" is a bit too progressive and abstract for baseball, but surely reminds you of another Pink Floyd hit, especially appropriate at the close of our baseball game(s)...
