GREAT GAME!!!!

Recommended Posts

Just watched the longest game in Cubs history. Great great great game. Some stellar defense. Awesome pitching. A position player comes in in the top of the 16th (!!!!!!!!!!!) Inning and retires the side, leads off with a single in the bottom, and gets sac fly'ed in to win the game. Cubs 4/Rockies 3 in 6 hours 27 minutes. Maybe one of the best games I've ever seen.

In what world do the Cubs not have money?!?!?  They can spend.  They just have never spent smartly.

OK, enough on this before it gets full on hi-jacked.

yeah I believe Alfonso Soriano is the highest paid player on this year's Cubs team. They are going to have to shell out some dough for pitching.

It doesn't matter how good the prospect is, as soon as he puts on a Cubs uniform, his talent decreases by 50 percent.

He's still the highest paid player on the Cubs.

Soriano was in the Bronx. So that would make him the highest paid non-player on the Cubs.

I wouldn't worry about the thread being hijacked so much as your brain, as evidenced by post #4.

Subtle move, but TR saw it and it scores a run.
what I don't understand is, why look at the pitcher after awarding R3 home?

Saw this replay and thought it was pretty clear cut that he was out of the base path. Seeing some argument that his whole body did not leave the 3 foot path to avoid the tag, any support for that interpretation?

Pretty close, but I think he got it right. He was running in fair territory then went all the way to the other side of the runner's lane, which would be more than 3 feet.

Maybe this is ironic only in the way the Alanis song used irony....
But it IS interesting that on the very "Back to the Future" day that every media outlet has been going on and on about, the Cubs - World Series winners in the movie - were eliminated from the playoffs, a round early.  (Closest they've been for a while, but still.)
And it's adorable how the World Series champs were supposedly still being decided in October.....
