I can only think the Iassogna thought both were touching the bag when Lawrie was tagged. He then saw Reyes tagged off the bag for the second out.

Even the best don't see everything.

In trying to get to a better position to see the possible tags, Iassogna wound up having to look through bodies and legs to see what what was happening at the critical moment. Reyes moves his hand after Lawrie was tagged that probably made it look like he (Reyes) was on the base for that tag, then not on the base when he himself was tagged. Had that been the case, Iassogna would have got it exactly right.

 

Either this is proof that Iassogna isn't actually Superman or another citizen of Krypton and thus doesn't have x-ray vision, or he holds keeping his secret identity a secret to be more important than getting the call right.
