    Feedback: Game Tracking Website

I tried that, but it annoyed me. I make lots of short trips during my day-to-day life, and it bugging me for each one got on my nerves. Stride you have to activate manually, but it does the same thing, but you can also keep track of other expenses (gear, camp registrations, even food while you're out of town). You can take a photo of your receipt, and it stores with it, so you don't have to keep track of those separately. And you can give it your income on a weekly basis, and it will estimate how much in taxes you should be holding back. I also have another non-day-job which pays well, and it lets me track those expenses separately from my officiating, too. I just started using it this year, but it supposedly integrates into my tax software, so I can click and be done with that part.

Anybody else here using Stride to keep track of miles and expenses? I've been pretty pleased with it.

Number of games? (for tourneys) Or perhaps a "repeat the last one" so you don't end up typing the same things over-and-over for a tourney (or, in the case of e.g. volleyball, just a quad).

    Hit By Pitch

Yeah, but.... If the ball takes a couple of bounces and hits the foot while they're standing there, they had plenty of time to get out of the way (see this more in rec-ball softball than baseball, but still...)

    Lock Laces for Plate Shoes

I do a form of this on my plate shoes: https://photos.app.goo.gl/rq5BLVFnMG4T9Ww36 Also, on the top I tie an "Ian knot" - like the guy in the TED video, I tied my shoestrings the "wrong way" for most of my life, and I've started making myself tie them this way.

    Kansas City 3-Man Umpire Camp - June 13-16, 2019

The question is not "who". It's "how much?" 10 games in the weekend. If you're not covering that in 10 games, you're underpaid at anything above intro-rec-level ball.

    Making Money Umpiring

My kids are all out of the house now, so I have the opposite problem. "Why are you home???"

    Rainout Whining

First of all, I promise you're not a genetically inferior (aside from the cancer thing, which I'm not trying to downplay - that's got to be a killer physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and every other -ally). I wasn't even a varsity athlete in high school, thanks to asthma* and spending more time in the library than the weight room. 1) In my case, I was alternating between bases and plate, so I wasn't geared up for all 7 (though a guy on the field next to me who is fit and in his mid-20's did 6 in a row on the dish). So that certainly helps. I did 3 back-to-back plates once (showcase ball, so they were moving along), and I did it, but I don't have any desire to attempt 4 2) These are also time-limited, so you don't have any 4-hour marathons. 3) For me, it's much the mental challenge. Can I still stay as focused and "on top of my game" in game 7 as I was in game 1 or 2? I think those kinds of things will help me out when I'm in a bad situation. "C'mon, you've survived worse than this, suck it up." 4) Physically, yeah, I'm a little sore and tired today, but you'll be surprised what you can do when you don't have a lot of other options. Work still needs to be done, so I do it. And dang, the hot shower felt great last night, nearly as good as the pillow did a few minutes later. There have been days when I've pulled the car into the driveway, turned off the ignition and just sat there a couple of minutes working up the gumption to actually get up. *which I've pretty much "grown out of" I have to take an inhaler usually 2-4 times per year now, and no other regular medications, but I'll still never be a long-distance runner.

    Rainout Whining

I've got my first rainout tonight in several (6-7?) weeks. It's honestly kind of welcome after the 7 games I put in yesterday for a USSSA tourney.

    Verbal on IFF

Was he tagged I've seen umpires mess this up because they have in their mind that it's still a force, or that they still have to tag up (neither of which is the case if an IFF is dropped). But to answer your question, yes it *should* be a loud audible call. But like @noumpere, there are times I've been quite loud on an IFF call, and the offense has claimed they didn't hear it.

    Making Money Umpiring

I figure that I'm probably making $15-$20/hour net on average. So I have my "day job" which pays ~$30/hr, but provides me with lots of bennies: health insurance, retirement, stability, year-round work, etc. I have side-gig #1 (consulting) which pays really well ($100/hr, with few expenses), but which I would kill myself doing all the time, and even if I did would be 10- hours/week some weeks and 100+ hours/week on others. Both of these first two have me looking at a computer screen and typing all day. Then I have side-gig #2 (officiating) which doesn't pay nearly as well, but which gets me outside, moving my body, and seems to be generally appreciated (despite the occasional parent in the stands or coach that didn't like that one call). Yeah, I'll take that. When I first spoke to SWMBO about doing this (after a few years of rec ball - so I knew what I was doing, but didn't have any of my own equipment, uniforms, etc.), she said "most people's hobbies lose them money - go for it." I don't really consider it a "hobby" as much as "a fun other job". Besides, what am I going to do if I'm not doing this? Sit on my butt, bored, and watching movies? No thanks. There is plenty of time to do that when games are rained out.

    Tag up

Probably the most frequently asked question here. Yes, the run scores. It is a time play, not a force out.

1st to 3rd move test question

Hit by pitch, during a bunt attempt

I don't know a lot about softball, but that one difference I do know. If you don't pull back the bat on a bunt attempt, it's a strike. In this case, dead ball (because it hit the batter), strike (because the bat didn't get pulled back), and out (on strike 3).
