So who is the rat here?
  3. This isn't the LL rule. I posted the LL rule separately.
  4. LL MAJORS/MINORS: Must be marked with the BPF rating which must be 1.15 or less. Composite barrel bats mus be on the approved list at www.littleleague.org LL JUNIOR: COMPOSITE bats must be marked BBCOR. LL SENIOR AND BIG LEAGUE: ALL bats must be marked BBCOR. NO LL Bat at any level has to have "LL Approved" on it.

Strictly speaking it's a balk and CI. 7.07 If, with a runner on third base and trying to score by means of a squeeze play or a steal, the catcher or any other fielder steps on, or in front of home base without possession of the ball, or touches the batter or his bat, the pitcher shall be charged with a balk, the batter shall be awarded first base on the interference and the ball is dead. All that's required for a violation is that the catcher step on or in front of the plate without the ball. Just being there is the interference. If the batter just stood and watched it would be a violation would it not? If the pitch was headed up and in and the batter bailed it would be a violation would it not? The catcher blew it - too bad catcher.
  6. The LL rule is as follows. It applies only in LL. Part of 3.17 The use of electronic equipment during a game is restricted. No team shall use electronic equipment, including walkie-talkies, cellular telephones, etc for any communication with on-field personnel, including those in the dugout, bullpen, or field Penalty: If, in the umpire’s judgment, any player, manager or coach uses an electronic communications device during the game, the penalty is ejection from the game. NOTE 1: A manager or coach is permitted to use a scorekeeping and/or pitchâ€counting application on an electronic device without penalty, provided such device is not used to receive messages of any sort.. MLB has a similar ban but it's in the MLBUM. The latest one doesn't have the non-rules sections and my other one is 10 years old so I don't want to copy something that might have changed/
  7. It's USING one that might be an issue - not just having one. Don't be an OOO. LL prohibits using them to communicate on the field.
  8. Your proctologist called - he found your head. :angel4:
  9. You win - we lose. every time!! Believe what you wish.
  10. It was only correct in FED. OBR (and LL, PONY, Dixie, USSSA, Riplen, etc.) and NCAA always have required an appeal.
  11. Needs an appeal in LL. Always did.
  12. Yes. You get paid so you get it back. @ $50 per game you only need 20 games to recoup ther camps and a few more to recoup the amortized cost of gear and uniforms. Do you get mileage? We don't. Coaches work for free and still have a pile of expenses. Dollar-wise you win - we lose.
  13. No Fee = No Me I have too much time, $ and effort invested in gear, uniforms, and training to not get paid. You work for free? Not a chance in the pit of Hades (remember that line from Young Guns?). Lol If you want to compare expenses and training time with coaches you'll find that the good ones have as much or more invested as you do.
  14. I sent you a message via this site (however that works)

    Uh oh...

OK - but that's not how the OP described the play. And ordinary effort os a required part of the determination - like it or not. And ordinary effort is to be judged relative to the ordinary skills at the particular level of play..
  16. You seem to contradict yourself in this post. Not sure why you say R2 is protected to third because based on the OP, the umpire has every right to protect him to home. Both OBR and Fed agree (mostly) on this type of obstruction. Both are delayed dead. Both allow the umpire to award any bases that would nullify the act of obstruction. The only difference is that in Fed, there is a minimum one base award whereas in OBR, there is no minimum award on Type B obstruction. As others have said, you can award any bases that would nullify the act of obstruction. So, if R2 would have scored if not for the obstruction, then score him. Give the benefit of the doubt to the offense, but don't give them a freebie. fed says he's protected. Base + 1. IF judgement deems run scores w/o obs, by all means score it. We all agree. FED says he's protested a MINIMUM of one base, not only one base.
  17. Everyone think there is a rule because they are right. There is a rule that states that. The rule says (posted above) that the ball is not to be put in play until the runners retouch. If the UIC does put the ball in play it's all on him, not the runners.
  18. Soapbox - on your play the runner was at third. On a throw to 3B then the batter's leaning away from the throwing lane - and the catcher doesn't know how to play his position..
  19. Runner from third is out. The "attempt . . . at any other base" doesn't apply the R3 headed home play. And I have a real hard time seeing where you'd have interference on a bang-bang throw.
  20. If players go head to head, or a blow to a head, or blood all over the place - fine - stop play. But in the OP some 17 or 18 year old just fell down and went boom. Play on. It'll keep.
  21. Lodged in the glove is dead in FED and live in OBR.
  22. Balk (and the balk kills any further appeal). Yes. No.
  23. The throw has to beat the runner. 6.05 A batter is out when— (j) After a third strike or after he hits a fair ball, he or first base is tagged before he touches first base; So if it's a tie, he or the base was not tagged before he touched the base so he's safe. Same here: 7.08 Any runner is out when— (e) He or the next base is tagged before he touches the next base, after he has been forced to advance by reason of the batter becoming a runner. Wasn't the wording of 6.05(j) changed a few years ago to make it consistent with 7.08(e)? Does anybody have the previous wording of 6.05(j) if in fact I am correct in remembering it being changed? They changed 7.08 to match 6.05 6.05 was throw has to beat and 7.08 was runner has to beat. Now both are throw has to beat. This is wht keeping up with the changes can be important.
  24. Folks are so locked into the "fact" that the myth is a myth that they act like just like the myth believers instead of actually analyzing the rule.
