  1. Numbers

I haven’t had numbers put on for a while, but I’m pretty sure it was 3” for shirts 4” for jackets. Except the navy shirts. For some reason, everyone I saw with navy shirts had 4” numbers.
  2. Pullovers

Honigs Plate (open bottom w/breast pocket) and Smitty Base (elastic bottom) pullovers. 2XL. Excellent condition. I’ll ship both for $60 or $30 each including shipping.
  3. Transaction Experience Thread

Received the 2 ball bags today from @slo8140 They were exactly as advertised, and he got them here quick. If he has something you want, go with confidence. Thanks again buddy!
  4. Wilson Platinum Shin Guards

Yeah that’s an easy one. Pick up some F3’s.
  5. Used to do leather, now I do memory foam exclusively. I like the Rawlings ones sold on amazon, as well as the wilsons. Tried really hard to get used to the TW’s but they are just too hard. And I can’t see how something that hard, with no give in it, can absorb any energy, even with your mask harness fitted properly.
  6. Force3 Shin Fit

I always thought the F3 shin guards couldn’t be as good as the hype. Then I bought a pair for this season, and I was right, they AREN’T as good. They’re better. WAY more comfortable and much cooler than my Wilson platinums. I’m a convert now. I’m a “hands on knees” guy, and they are great for tucking your hands behind them.
  7. Remove logo from visor?

Let’s see: Nike, Rawlings, Markwort, Richardson, Oakley, Honig’s, Riddell, Majestic, Boston Leather, Smitty, Under Armour, Champion, Force3, Puma, Reebok, Zebra, Champro, UmpLife, and Wrigley’s. 19 brands. Wow.
  8. New masks for old MLB umpires

Yeah definitely a helmet, they just haven’t shown him with his mask off much, so I think I saw a visor on it, but haven’t been able to see for sure. I’ll probably get my chance though, as this game seems like it is going slooooow.
  9. Remove logo from visor?

I know what you mean. I’ve also gotten to the point where I find myself remove my logos when and where I can.
  10. New masks for old MLB umpires

Interesting sight in the Twins-Astros game right now. Estabrook is wearing a silver MAG with a matte black base coach helmet. Not sure if this is normal for him this year, or if he couldn’t get his hat over his hood? It’s pretty cold there. At least I think it’s a base coach helmet, but I haven’t gotten a good look yet to see if it’s got a visor on it.
  11. Ebay finds

Oh no, that's awful, I'm sorry to hear that!
  12. Ebay finds

Mainly the velcro attachments to the plates. I tell you what, I have the good fortune of owning of these. I picked it up last summer. I really started using it this year. I put a “RazzerFlex” harness on it, and I can’t say enough how great this protector is. Forget about the “cool factor,” it just performs well, and I seriously feel like I’m not even wearing a protector at all I would imagine that this could be achieved with the Wilson gold if someone were able to get a pad made for it that was about half the thickness of what it comes with, and in place of the wings, just flare out the pad like the platinum or the original power did. What happened to the guy that was working with a foam manufacturer to make a replacement pad for his Wilson. Did he have any luck?
  13. Ebay finds

    Anything ever come of this?
  14. Men’s Wearhouse just did mine last week. $10/per pair.
  15. Equipment Suggestions?

    There-I fixed it for you!
  16. All American CP? Paint chipping off padding

@jwclubbie After looking at the spandex covering the foam on the shoulder cap, the fabric looks loose. I wonder if there is a way to bond that fabric to the foam a little better, like using spray adhesive when placing the spandex over the foam? Did you discuss that with them at all?
  17. All American CP? Paint chipping off padding

That looks great! @mbkcoach and I were talking about this very thing last summer, and I was pretty sure at that time that an upholstery shop is the way to go to get pads replaced or refurbished when you can't get the original manufacturer to do it. This is proof positive.
  18. New Wilson helmet

That is one spendy bucket that doesn't look that spendy. It looks more like a youth catcher's helmet to me. I give Wilson an A for trying to innovate, but a C- for execution. Just my anyway.
  19. Celebrating 10 Years

Congrats, Warren, and thanks for the recognition! You have done a tremendous job with this site. What appealed to me was the fact that you were very emphatic about keeping negativity off of the site. That was a an extremely important move on your part, and you should be commended. I can't think back to origins of this site without also thinking about @mstaylor As far as members are concerned, Mike was another major reason why this site was so appealing to the masses. He was an outstanding wealth of knowledge, and a better human being. I think I speak for us all when I say he is missed. On the lighter side, how about a list of humorous posts/threads/posters over the years? (In good fun, not mean spirited, of course). The first one that comes to my mind is: "Umpire number (XX), what is that mask he is wearing? I must have it."
  20. Transaction Experience Thread

Recently had another pleasant transaction with @wolfe_man The mask is great, looks like a great addition to the rotation.
  21. Just get one of these and put it on upside down like in the picture. It worked for Nuke LaLoosh and his “quadrophonic Blaupunkt.”
  22. Force3 Defender doesn't help here....

Having the springs is a good concept, I just don’t think the construction is well thought out with being held into place with screws and brackets like that. God forbid a screw or spring pops out and heads straight for an eye. Like a lot of things in the quest for better technology, you may solve one problem, but it could create a new one. Just my 2 cents, anyway.
  23. Keeping shoes white

I usually use water in a spray bottle and a rag after games, then once a week or so I hit it with my power steamer I got for $99 Friday m Amazon . Works like a champ.
  24. Ebay finds

This one's a beaut! http://www.ebay.com/itm/All-Star-System-7-Seven-Adult-2-Two-Piece-Traditional-Catchers-Umpire-Mask-Black-/112543376839?hash=item1a341ba5c7:g:B14AAOSw5TlZkogE "The mask is in good condition with signs of wear as seen in the picture. It was used for a complete season but still has plenty of life left in it." As a door stop?
