  3. I was fortunate enough to be selected for the MHSAA State Semi/Finals last month. My first game (semi) I had the plate and had this photo taken ...I thought I'd share.....

  5. I observed this difference as well. What about this one: bases loaded, 1 out, long fly ball near the wall in LF. R3 holds up to tag, but R2 is running, mistakenly thinking there are 2 outs. After the ball clears the fence, the 3B coach grabs R2 by the arm to prevent him from passing R3. Why would we not penalize such assistance, merely because the ball was dead? The offense is clearly gaining an advantage not intended by the rules from such assistance.

  6. Misleading thread title, should be “ no base running ever”

  8. Agree. Disagree (at least as stated in the OP -- there's no mention of a play on BR)

  9. Yeah, I concur with this take. I would rule out on the grabbing to return to a missed base, and let the protest sort it out.

  10. I think BRD overstates and misinterprets the case 3.2.2A. If the rule makers wanted to make assistance to only be a penalty during live ball, why would they not just say that instead of 'during playing action'? The case allows a coach to pick up a tripped runner, which would be preventing the defense in live ball but really isn't impacting the play during a dead ball award. However, preventing a missed base with physical assistance IS impacting the pattern of play and preventing the defense from an appeal. BRD is certainly persuasive, but not authoritative, it's not the rule book. And in this case, barring some direction from NFHS otherwise, I think BRD is wrong.

  11. I have had training that offers neither POP nor 3BLX. The training I have received suggests staying where you are at the time of the pitch and react to the play as F2 sets up to make a play at the plate.

  12. It wouldn't get that far. The next batter is getting one in the ear hole if you don't stomp on this situation right now.

  13. I would eject and here is why his next at bat the other team is putting one in his back and that can get real ugly real fast.

  17. Not a rumor, i am working on it. We are testing 3D PRINTING and considering paying a mold charge for injection molding. New Plate Brush is also in the works

  18. It appears the runner begins to deviate from his path before the catcher receives the ball. It also appears the catcher initially positioned himself on the foul line, rather than moving there to receive the throw.

  20. I knew this a few months ago but I didn’t share it here. I have been hired into college baseball at the D3 and NAIA level in Southern California. Looking forward to this year and many more. Feel free to hijack this thread if you’ve been hired into a higher level
