Keeps the dust out too. I got some in my eye last year one game and fought it for almost an inning. Finally got some eye drops. It was to the point of starting to hurt, not just keeping me from seeing.

I automatically put one on all my mask....don't know if it keeps sun out as have not try one without...plus...it looks cool as hell....oh and yes for sun glasses on the plate...I need my eyeballs relaxed in all situations-not squinting

Rocked them Friday for a DH. Sooooo comfy still, and with the Leather Luster shine put on them 6 years ago, they still pop under the lights. Will keep looking on Ebay for more.

Maskit sports is.by far the best way to go, because he not only paints it but first removes the vinyl coating and checks and fixes welds and bends for one price. But that price is about 35 bucks plus shipping both ways, which comes to about 50 bucks total, give or take. He does NOT straight paint it, he powder coats it, which will last long without chipping or flaking. Now you certainly can paint it yourself and even strip the vinyl off yourself, and in fact i have done it twice this offseason to 2 masks i have. If you are handy or like diy projects, it would take you less than an hour and less than 10 bucks. If you are interested, i can send you a procedure, types of paint to use, pros and cons. Also, others here have also diy'ed this, like[mention=34]MajorDave[/mention] and others. They inspired me. You can search and see their results. I got a pair online last year. New in box for $70. I only wear them for college or HS varsity regular season and playoffs. I wear my other magistrates for the rest of the year.

More often than a popup to first that would be an infield fly *and* does not let the batter have an opportunity to reach first.

Not to mention that Demuth (PU) saw and called the obstruction as well (at the 1:37 mark and at the 1:54 you can see him do it), so he made his call of safe at the plate based on his observation of obstruction at 3rd base. I'll agree with the OP in that Demuth signaled "safe" before signaling "time", but that's a pretty trivial point in the whole thing. Bottom of the 9th in the World Series and I'm ending a game on an obstruction?!?! Yeah - I'd have probably gotten the order of my signals wrong, too. And FWIW - this moment more than probably any other made me proud to be an umpire. Joyce and Demuth were both faced with a call that an umpire - even one calling 162 games a year - might see once or twice a year. And it happened in the bottom of the 9th in the World Series, and they were ALL OVER IT. Super-mega-props to those guys.

My Smitty has pockets and my Majestic does not. Not a huge difference but for cold days it helps to have the fleece lined pockets. I find myself trying to put my hands in the pockets that aren't there on the Majestic.
