Out of base path ruling Cubs-Giants game May 22, 2016

Saw this replay and thought it was pretty clear cut that he was out of the base path. Seeing some argument that his whole body did not leave the 3 foot path to avoid the tag, any support for that interpretation?

He was completely in fair territory when the tag was attempted and he crossed the running lane which is three feet wide.  I would say he was out of the basepath.  Good call.
