U2 goes out, U3 to B2, PU to B3, U1 to HP and a play at the play with U1 making the call. Very nice.

Just a bit more detail for any who might be interested and don't know 4-ump mechanics.

  1. On almost any batted ball that reaches the outfield on the fly, an umpire will go out. When U2 starts in the OF, he will go out on balls in the gap, as here. He will stay out to read any fan INT or ball getting stuck.
  2. When U2 goes out, U3 immediately reads that and heads into the infield to take touches and tags at 2B.
  3. U1 observes the BR's touch at 1B. When he reads extra bases, and the BR commits to 2B (not coming back to 1B), he will start to drift toward home.
  4. When U3 goes to 2B and the BR commits to 2B, the PU will go to 3B. He will have all touches and tags there.
  5. When the BR commits to 3B, U1 will finish his rotation to the plate.

As a general rule, rotations with 3+ umpires are driven by the objective to keep an umpire in front of and behind every possible play.
