Using Team Wendy pads, I didn't feel a thing, but had to stop play and retrieve my backup FM4000 (lower right in photo) to complete the next three innings. With more games and a relocation to Arizona coming up incredibly soon (next week!), I decided to make my +POS ZRO-G (upper right in photo) my primary black-trim gamer for the interim while the Nike goes off to Tony at MaskIt to (hopefully!) get repaired. I had always wanted to at least try out a Honig's K4, and when I discovered they offered it in navy, I was sold, so the K-4N will now be my primary navy-trim gamer. It's a really sharp look!... if you're into that navy trim thing... which I'm not. With two solid masks in the arsenal, and having been seduced convinced to purchase yet another Nike Steel from @Rook23 (it was enroute at time of photo), I took the opportunity to send the FM4000 off to MaskIt to be powder-coated and as moral support to the Nike. The FM4000 will be getting the Flint Black (flat black) treatment that a few of you have had applied to your masks. The Nike Steel, if the surgery goes alright, will continue to be gunmetal metallic and will go back to being my primary gamer. @MadMax How heavy is the Honigs frame??? kylejt
All that dough laid out, and not one throat protector. Why is that, fellas?

Stacey, The Honigs K4, loaded w/ Team Wendy pads is .... 1.4lbs, or ... 22.4 oz (That's right from Honig's of Ann Arbor) For a hollow steel w/ Team Wendy pads, ...that's light boys! An All-Star FM25 hollow steel is 21oz , and an FM25 Ti is 19oz
MadMax
Thanks for answering that inquiry, Jeff ( @Thunderheads), I don't have a scale handy any more. Of my four masks, all loaded with Team Wendy pads, the K-4 is the heaviest. But keep in mind, I only buy and use lightweight masks now, and the K-4 is the largest by volume and materials. Its ear guards are elephantine, and does have the extended crown guard. @kylejt, I didn't use a throat guard when I played catcher, and I don't wear one now (yet). When I owned an Easton Speed Elite, I put a 4" TG on it because its chin guard is so diminutive. I'll consider using one when someone changes the cheap, bland, fat-shoehorn design to something with some character. And no, Mizuno Spyders don't count, because it's so difficult to get them. The status quo has to change, guys.

Okay, so some guy named Fonzie doesn't wear one on TV, but it's light, a tad wider than most, $10, and kinda cool looking. They work well for me. the_umpire
@JDavis225 nope, the original throat guard is still on there. The TG is just over top.
Stk004
I'll post a picture of all my masks (lots of changes) once I get the attachment fiasco figured out, but here's one. My question to you all is, what kind of Mizuno mask is it? I have two tone Wilson wraparound pads on there and a SSK throat guard.

JDavis225
Preferred harnesses?? I just got my Nike and don't care for this harness AT ALL. MadMax
My Nike Steel is dead. Long live the Nike Steel. Yup. I held out hope that it could be fixed, but when an expert can't fix it and sends you an equitable replacement, it's time to call it. A 90+ mph foul-off on the primary bar is asking alot to survive. With that (somberly) said, I did get this as a replacement: It's a +POS ZRO-G, powder-coated in a very snazzy gunmetal metallic. Looks great with either black or tan pads. If any other service had pulled a switcheroo like this, I'd be rightly upset. In this case, though, MaskIt did what they could and we are able to discuss it out. My Nike Steel would have been dead without MaskIt, and this way, I get a working, top-quality mask out of the tragedy. Now I just need to (re)find a Nike Steel or Titanium. The real gem, though, was how the All-Star FM4000 turned out... Mask enthusiasts, I believe that Stealth (flat) Black is the only color the FM4000 should be produced in. It's stunning.

The chin guard juts forward on +POS ZRO-G (and, from the looks of things, on the Wilson too), while both the Nike Steel and Titanium have the chin guard in a more relaxed angle, nearly plum-straight down. Again, anybody else playing a switcheroo would have incurred mighty wrath; MaskIt did me a favor on this one. I just miss the view.
