Can anyone provide more information or a review/thoughts on this camp? How fast does it normally fill up-- I'm in college and won't know if I can afford to miss a day until the semester starts in January.

How about other camps in Georgia or Florida? I can't attend the schools, but I should be able to go to clinics.

Waren, your thoughts would be appreciated, as I know you have experience with the camp.

http://umpire-empire.com/index.php/topic/1814-southern-umpires-camp-summary <-- Summary (IDK why the cont is crazy  )

I had a great time, learned a lot and highly recommend it.

This was my first camp outside of my association and at the time of the original post I didn't have anything to compare it to. I've since been to many more and my goal (which unfortunately will not meet in 2012) is to attend at least one camp outside of my association every year.

One thing that now really stands out for me is that by the end of day 1 all the instructors knew my name. It sounds like a little thing, but I've since been to a couple of camps where even though you're wearing a name tag they don't even bother to learn your name. There was one camp I attended where I feel like they were trying to make me feel like an outsider.

It reminds me of something my Granddaddy told me once upon a time. He owned a small chain of hardware stores in Norfolk from the 1950's to the 1970's long before the big-box stores. He told me if you want to know what a store really thinks of their customers go into their restrooms. The condition of their restrooms is a direct reflection of their thoughts about their customers. If a store can't give you something as simple as a nice clean restroom they don't deserve your business.

A camp or clinic which doesn't even bother to learn your name they don't deserve your money.

All that said they are a good one.
