..but wait! there's more!......SWMBO that is
Aging_Arbiter replied to Aging_Arbiter's topic in Off-Topic/Funny Stories
Shoot, she's the @MadMax of anything I leave laying around. She "acquired" one of my old front disc rotors that I replaced on the Harley, to a clock mechanism (just the back piece where you put the battery & set the time, rand it through a CD that she glued to the back of the rotor and then put the hands of the clock on the front side. Now I have a front rotor clock in the garage. -
The only remaining "W" equipment I have is a platinum with team wendy retro fit. I figured I'd hang on to it until I retire, and then offer it up as a "relic" for sale.

Jealousy (of my new high tech chest protector) will get you nowhere. (looks more like a bib from Joe's Crab Shack)

..but wait! there's more!......SWMBO that is
Aging_Arbiter posted a topic in Off-Topic/Funny Stories
Folks, I just checked back and I've been posting about SWMBO on here since 2013. Recently, I had invited over one of my new "adult" umpires. I had some older pants (that I don't fit in anymore) that fit him, a shirt and a pair of leg guards. As we are walking out, he asks "what do I owe you for this"? I just kind of shrug my shoulders and think for a split second, and there it is.......that voice from the next room. If you get it out of this house, you can HAVE it! Little did I know, there was a method to her madness. Well, without fail, she continues to surprise me. Last evening I had finished packing & repacking my gear bags (Yes, I have a complete back up bag). Since SWMBO was going to the fields, prepping for the season (she now runs the concessions for our 7 fields) I told her that I'd be loading my truck and giving the spare bedroom back to her for the summer. After I quickly reminded her that she purchased most of that STUFF, she offered to help me load it into the truck. She was excited to get one of the rooms back so. She made some back handed comment about me using 2 closets for my umpire pants/shirts/jackets. When I asked her to speak up, she said "Never mind...I get it". High school shirts/jackets/pants in one closet, Little League & AAABA jackets/shirts/pants in the other. I said that I could get rid a set of the shirts, but that meant I would be doing fewer games, and AT HOME more frequently. Odd, she offered to take my newest shirt to the cleaners to get my numbers sewn on. I'm not always good with subtleties. Was that a hint? She doesn't sew, but can cook & craft her @$$ off. -
I did just get my first cortisone knee injection for the season about 2 hours ago................

Sound strategy to get warm?

In regards to the bag, I still have and use my bag that used to be from Jim Evans Acadamy, and got it back in 2007. Still in fairy decent shape, so much so that when SWMBO suggested that I get a new one, I ordered the F3 (updated version of my old bag). Sturdy as heck and has traveled a lot. The only thing "wrong" with my original (and this is 12 years later) is that one of the zipper pull tabs broke off. Zipper still functional, so I ran a zip tie through the hole and have a new pull tab.

OFFICIAL :2-MINUTE REVIEW: NCAA & NAIA Mound Visit Tracker Cards
Aging_Arbiter replied to JimKirk's topic in Ump-Attire.com
ok, wasn't aware of the NCAA side of it. I already have a line up card for HS, I just turn it over, and make notes there. .....I guess at that level, it could be considered as "not reinventing the wheel".... -
hello, the longitude and latitude of that last pitch, has it outside by.07mm. Given the current barometric pressure, the pitch must have been low. However, determining the number of facebook posts and tweets that I have documented since the beginning of this contest, I would suggest calling it a strike if you should wish to reach your car safely.

@JoeC There is a reason people DO NOT move North when they retire........

They went with the bulletin. 1B only.

OFFICIAL :2-MINUTE REVIEW: NCAA & NAIA Mound Visit Tracker Cards
Aging_Arbiter replied to JimKirk's topic in Ump-Attire.com
I don't see what the need is to begin with. Maybe college is a little different, but when I get my (HS) line up cards, after the plate meeting I flip them over and draw lines dividing the card into thirds. One section labeled "conferences", one section "Courtesy Runners" and the last section "Warnings". The only thing I could see being "gained" by this, is if your partner is tracking that information on the bases. What am I missing here folks? Please enlighten me. -
My Doc suggested against running, due to the impact, but ok'd me on walking on a treadmill. Then again, this was after a total knee replacement. I convinced him that short bursts of running on grass and "some dirt" shouldn't be that much of an impact. He agreed.

Dear God, You gave me childhood, and you took it away. You gave me youth, and you took it away. You gave me a wife, and it's been years now. Just reminding you.

IN YOUR JUDGEMENT........to qualify the miss, was the batter attempting to hit the ball? If so, it's a strike, if not it's a ball (unless it passed through the zone). Now to YOUR question...The batter has to have one foot completely out of the box and on the ground WHEN CONTACT IS MADE (fair or foul). In this case, you indicate he "missed" the bunt, so to me, that means no contact. No out.

Sorry, some may call it profiling, but every time I see the name @beerguy , I cannot help but think of this...........
