  1. Missed the play

I had this exact play just two nights ago. I was the PU, and I can tell you that I busted my hump immediately to get down close to 20' from 3B and hold to see how it developed. After a few throws back and forth, R1 is going back to 2B stumbles and falls while F5 is diving toward him. I thought I saw a tag, but BU is there shaking his head no so I held back on a call. R1 is up and makes it back to 2B safely. We were in position and all was quite from the coaches.
  2. Equipment Bag Debate

@Umpire in Chief If you are still looking for an equipment bag, Homerun Monkey is having a 20% off sale with the code laborday20 thru labor day. They have the large and small diamond bags and the wilson. The large bags are only $111.99 after the discount. When I plugged in standard shipping it was only $6.98 for shipping. Great deal if you or anyone else wants to take advantage of anything they sale.
  3. Football reconditioners or repair places?

Max, please PM me the pics. Actually my revised short term thoughts are to simply get some velcro attached to the foam and on my cp plates so I can go test it at a batting cage. If it passes, then proceed to the next step and source out a fabric. If I don't like the test results than go back and select other products.
  4. Football reconditioners or repair places?

I am seeking out the fabric now. I am also emailing the tech folks to see if the foam can have glue applied to it and what type. I will try to use a ribbon, edging sewen around the perimeter to hold the fabric. For the sample piece, I am wanting to velcro the padding to the plates instead of trying to sew the velcro straps on the foam to place thru the slots in the plates.
  5. Football reconditioners or repair places?

I received the sample material yesterday. Made a template of my existing cp padding and will be cutting out the material soon.
  6. +pos chest protector

@MadMax is the Zero Gravity cp padding removable or permanently attached?
  7. Football reconditioners or repair places?

Just received a shipping number, sample material due to arrive 8/7.
  8. +pos chest protector

It could also be off centered cutting on the padding, offline sewing, or any other visual defect that may not effect performance.
  9. Football reconditioners or repair places?

They are the foam manufacturer. There are several companies already buying their foam and making protective products for other sports, snow skiing is one of them. They seem to be confident in their product and are sending me two different samples at their expense. I learned today that there is a glove manuf. that is using their product for added hand impact protection in their gloves. I am patiently waiting for the delivery and then cut the material to fit my cp and get in front of a pitching machine. IF the results are good than see if those folks are willing to expand their service. The hardest thing to know at this point, is how many units they could expect to build in a 6 month or 12 month period. Any manufacturer will ask this question.
  10. Football reconditioners or repair places?

Update, I just had a receptive conversation with this company sales engineer. I am now awaiting shipment of two sample pieces that I can retrofit to my cp and do some live fire testing. That is all for now....
  11. Football reconditioners or repair places?

    Thanks, LOL!
  12. Football reconditioners or repair places?

@MadMax, I have a scheduled time to speak to them on Wednesday. I would love to get a sample and fit it to one of my cp's and go stand in front of the pitching machine and get a real world test. They already do impact engineering and for their products. Again they are already making protective padding for other sports and activities. Snow skiing protective body armor is one example. If it will protect you in a 50+ mph wipeout, then I think it may work for us. They are evidently big in the shoe insole and protective shoe line and have an impressive partner list, of which New Balance is one. My goal is simply to convince them that there is a market that isn't being fully served and see if they are willing to recognize the opportunity and pursue it themselves or discuss with one of their partner companies that is already setup to manufacture sports equipment. Companies usually don't listen to the little guy, but they will listen to their suppliers.
  13. Football reconditioners or repair places?

This particular company has a unique foam that is already being used as impact protective padding in other sports & activities. They have partner companies that use their products and some of these companies we would recognize, My hope is to push this thru them to one of their partner companies. They have been intrigued enough to want a second conversation.
  14. Football reconditioners or repair places?

I have actually been talking to a foam manufacturer about a laminate foam that I am very excited about. I hope to hear back from them this coming week and hopefully receiving a large enough sample to make a replacement padding test piece from.
  15. All American CP? Paint chipping off padding

I think the early ones did come in blue. Check with @catsbackr I believe he still has a blue AA cp. If you pick it up let me know I may be interested.
  16. Navy mask harness

Looking for a navy mask harness, hopefully one without the big black wilson logo on the back. I haven't seen one on line yet, if anyone knows of a dealer that has them please post.
  17. Champion 220 plate attachment

The rivets is the new style. There are still a few retailers that have the velcro attached plates in inventory. I bought mine a few years ago from on deck sports. http://www.ondecksports.com/team-equipment/baseball-softball/umpire-equipment?page=2 . I would call first and make sure that is what they have in inventory. If that is the style they have, it's at one heck of a good price.
  18. Navy mask harness

I have used nothing but All Star LUC's and I really like their protection. I tried Wilson memory foam and TW, didn't like either. Tried the Honigs micro fiber and liked them as much as the All Star. Thought I would give the leather a try. @JoHart10 sings their praises all the time.
  19. Navy mask harness

I guess I will give them a call. They are listing black only on their site. I actually looked there first because I am wanting to order their navy leather pads. Hopefully they still have them.
  20. Riddell Power 2.0

@Stan W. I think you may be hard pressed to find someone other than Razzer that has worn a Carlucci. Fittske24 maybe?? Its always about how a cp fits your body. I like the Douglas becuase at 5'10" 180lbs it fits my body very well. The Wilsons are a good cp, but they were distracting & too big and sloppy for me. I have never worn an F3 personally, but I do like it and find it intriguing due to its adjustable design in the shoulder width and length. Again its about how it fits your body. Thank you Razzor for your harness that allows my 15" Champion to fit me just as snug and worry free as the Delta Flex on my Douglas.
  21. Riddell Power 2.0

@blue32 That is COOL! The new Riddel decals really add a nice touch. Get yourself one of Razzer's harnesses and you are set!
  22. Different types of padding on Champion CP?

Yes @MadMax you have used the proper term "sofa cushion foam" in reference to the "W" you are forever linked to it. LOL!
  23. Different types of padding on Champion CP?

The Champion is lower. I failed to mention earlier, the Champion padding is roughly 1/2" maybe a little more on mine, and the Douglas is a good 5/8" thick or slightly more. The Douglass plates are probably a little thicker too. The Wilson Platnium, @MadMax sofa cushion, was so thick I sweated buckets with it on and it slide around and I hated it. I am 5'-10" and 180, and the Douglas and Champion fit me the best. The Champion is lower profile on my body, but my Douglas is the lower profile on my shoulders because I don't have the gap plate on the Douglas and the Champion does. My personal opinion is this, both of them fit "my body" type and they "protect me" so thats why I have them. I looked like I had a billboard under my shirt with the Wilson. Again you have two good ones . For me its Douglas 1 and Champion the alternate.
  24. Different types of padding on Champion CP?

The Douglas padding is a little more dense than the champion, and slightly hotter than the champion. The champion is a little bit more comfortable to me due to the breaks in the plates and the t hook location vs the douglas. I just finished HS age double header summer league and the Douglas was first and Champion second if I did both plates. I have had solid hits in both, both have held up. Get an umps life harness for the champion, it will improve the fit. Don't worry you have a solid back up now. I had a Wilson Platnium, which was a horrible fit, the Douglas 15" is my favorite followed by the Champion 15".
