  1. Good lord I didn't even factor that in!
  2. I was just curious. A league of their own was on the TV as I passed by in the lobby. If their was a WMLB would you work it? I'm asking for pure fun. This post is not to start a war. I'm simply asking could you/ would you work a woman's professional baseball league? I think I would. Not softball. Not ever softball. Baseball? If it paid well... Absolutely.
  3. So lower levels where both coaches provide 2 ball each (4 total) There is no reason whatsoever to wear two. In HS and above where you can have as many as you want I'd say 2. I like balance personally. I would bring 7 out of the locker room. 3 right 3 left and one on the rubber! lol who am I kidding. I never got that steak dinner! It's a silly argument though. I mean honestly. Other than aesthetics... The only logical argument to only having one is that you'd be asking for more baseballs more often...
  4. When I was in baseball this was my schedule. Wake up 10am. workout, eat lunch, take a nap, head to the ballpark to be there at 5, rub up the balls as a crew for the days game, Usually 7 dozen, games usually 7:05-7:10, game times 2:45-3:30 then shower and leave laundry for the cluby, head to bar/dinner, get back around 1-2 rinse and recycle. That was the life. Get away days we left right after the game.
  5. Do any of you workout just to get in shape to work baseball? Is a workout part of your daily life? Or are you a lucky one who doesn't need any form of exercise? I've found that once the season starts now that I'm out of baseball... I stop working out during baseball. Between work and baseball I'm too tired to make it. What do you guys (and gals) do to balance this? As a side note... I love the gym. It's not a matter of not wanting to go!
  6. Affiliated... I think it's important to make that distinction.
  7. Nor is that implied Haid. We employ umpires for the Northwoods. Then our umpires return to umpire school. 58 of 64 students who choose to return to school are now in MiLB. We all went through it and got jobs. Would love for you to visit the website and or camp. Feel free to visit The Northwoods site also. First summer league to have 1 million fans in one season. 18 teams comprised of mostly schools mid-west thru west coast. Notre Dame, Indiana, all the way to USC, Arizona St ect. Also Ken, Cape does not hire umpires. It is run by a local college association and they use their own guys. Again, feel free to look it up.
  8. Anyone who is looking to get a job in minor league baseball should look into attending O.U.T.S. Run by Bob Bainter. The chief instructor is Brent Rice who is also the lead instructor at Wendelstedt. We have had the top returning student 6 years running. We place 27 umpires in the Northwoods league during the summer. That is the premier wood bat College league. Our camp is 10 days in Cocoa Beach, Fla. Registration is now open. You do not need to have attended a school. However, we prefer that you want to. Certainly,  will not preclude you from getting a placement. We will have many special guests. Reps from the App league, Northwoods, Atlantic league, Frontier league. More to come. Please visit our website.
