  2. I'd use caution with this. Things happen...even with no one aboard. If I feel in doubt, I will ask. And I've worked with many phenomenal umpires who are many hundreds of times better than me and they will come for help. The only times I will not ask is if I am absolutely confident in my call or to appease a coach.

  3. As I alluded to in a post about taking some time off, I was taking an exam for work, my PE exam. Learned today all my studying paid off, I passed. Hopefully this means I can get out more on the field this spring, as if I had to retake it, I would of lost all my preseason prep (would of done bare minimum for association) and games through most of April.

  4. Honig's makes an outstanding, top-quality mask harness with no printing or logos on it whatsoever. It's available in black or navy. Sell your existing Wilson-MLB harness to one of the fanboys here, one of them will be sure to gobble it up.

  7. @Thunderheads is exactly right. Jeff will take care of you and Douglas does a great job customizing. For me, they added plates for gap protection on the shoulder caps and wings for more protection around the armpits. Take a look...

  8. Usually, it would depend on the kind of match. One-day matches can be all daytime, or day/night, while Tests are usually daytime. (Having said that, the second Ashes Test in Adelaide was a day/night Test.) (You spend six years in Australia, you learn a few things about the game. By no means am I an expert, but I picked up stuff.) For the question: I wouldn't grant the extra time - take tea early. The retired batsman hasn't lost his wicket, and could return, so it's not a situation where you'd be extending play to take the final wicket. (I know - it's LIKE I'm speaking English, but it's like I'm not, too!)

  9. It is for this reason that I will not call a runner safe unless I am definitively sure the fielder was off the bag. An effect of this is that I never will go for help on a safe call, because I know that I have all the input I need. I also am firmly of the belief that if BU is doing his job, there is never a reason to get help on a pulled foot with no runners on. BU has one responsibility and one only.

  10. We have a very limited few blue-and-tan pad masks on hand that have not been available to the public. Since you asked, and because it's Christmas, I will let you have an opportunity to purchase 2 of them. You can find them here through this link (can not browse through the website and find): https://www.ump-attire.com/product.html?id=869

  11. Just a couple steps toward LH batters box (3rd base extended) should give PU an unobstructed look at 2nd for FPSR, easy to watch touch at home, and still have good angle if help is needed on pulled foot/swipe tag at 1st. Always remember; angle trumps distance.

  12. I took mine off also when I had the platinum.

  13. I took that pad off of my platinum a few days ago, and used it for the first time last night since I did. It was much more comfortable without that thing getting in the way of my mask, or pressing into my throat whenever I had to raise my arms. I only wish I had done this years ago.
