  1. How do the Majestic MLB umpire shirts compare to the Smitty MLB umpire shirts? Also, Ump Attire only shows size "medium" availible. Will they be ordering more?
  2. 6.05 A batter is out when— (j) After a third strike or after he hits a fair ball, he or first base is tagged before he touches first base; This is a true statement....... and physics syas that if the umpire perseves a "tie" then the ball actually got there before the runner. THEREFORE ..... TIE = OUT
  3. The power of the brain is awesome. ....at the very minimum, it is such a joy to see the coaches face when you whip out the speed of light vs the speed of sound and it makes for some good laughs at beer-thirty
  4. If one perseves a "tie" it is actually and scientifically an out. An umpire looks at the feet hitting the bag and listens for the ball hitting the glove. Light tavels 299,792,458 m/s while sound travels 340 m/s. So if our senses preseve the play as a tie the sound and the visual hit us at the same time. That means the sound had to happen LONG before the visual happened in order for them both to reach the umpire at the same time.
  5. I've heard or read the following about Plate Shoes: New Balance: Too confining and a bit on the heavy side Reebok Zig: Quality issues, shoes didn't last Pentagon: ????????? Any others: ??????? Any comments would be greatly appreciated
  6. Runner at 1st base - no outs. Batter squares to sacrifice bunt. Bunts the ball back to pitcher who fields the bunt cleanly and immediately turns and throws to 2nd but not in time to get the runner. Batter is now also safe at 1st. This was scored as a fielders choice. Was FC the correct scoring? If the runner was OUT it would be FC. If the batter was OUT it would be a SAC. It just seams odd to me that if the Batter is OUT it doesn't count as an "at bat". But the fact that ALL were safe the batter is charged with an "at bat" and goes against his ave. and his on base %, etc. I realize a ground ball would be a FC, but should an attempt to sac be scored the same way? Just don't seem right.
  7. How do the new Reebok plate shoes compare to the NB405's ......which I just bought last year
  8. This happened to an umpire in our association. He was a senior umpire and was his last year because his eyesight just wasn't good enough anymore. As he is walking off the field, one of the coaches comes running up to him. "Hey Blue.... you dropped your cell phone." He replied, "That's not my cell phone". Coach counters "Sure it is. Look, it says you missed 15 calls" We all still roll when it's talked about!
