  1. Hi. If you have your phone number I can call you, I lost it. This is about the pitching rules test for GreenBookRules.com

  2. MLBUM 6.4 The concept of the runner being in jeopardy after the ball goes past an infielder and strikes the runner in a situation where another infielder still has a chance to make a play on the ball applies ONLY when the ball PASSES the first infielder without being touched or deflected by him. This concept DOES NOT APPLY if the ball is touched or deflected by the first infielder, even though another infielder has a chance to make a play on the ball. Hope this helps.
  3. One question I had is whether I was looking for umps to submit a question or two or take on an entire rule. I'll gladly take what works for you. I'd prefer an entire rule you if that is something you'd like to tackle.
  4. 7.09(k) ... what made me say it was an out is that part that states "and that no other infielder had the chance to make a play on the ball" ... with the second fielder lined up wouldn't that be an out? 7.05( ... right, three bases, thanks...
  5. Thanks. I will fix that upon next publishing.
  6. Hi. Yes, it is a site I created. It is geared towards LL and not softball.
  7. G’day my fellow Blues. I sure could use help in developing quizzes for http://greenbookrules.com/ and would like to ask if you are interested in helping out. If so please contact me at roger@greenbookrules.com or online in this post. I have a specific method that the quizzes would need to be organized in so that I can publish it under the GBR method, as well as get it published rapidly. Meaning, if you have a written quiz already it would need to be put in the GBR method; easy enough once I show you what I am talking about. Credit to the author will be given of course. The number of questions per quiz should be 10 – 20. We can create more than one quiz per rule section, e.g., five different 10 questions each for Rule 6.00 - The Batter. I have completed Rule 2 and need quizzes for Rules 1, and Rules 3 – 9. Here is an example of that I mean by the GBR method. Note each question starts with PLAY: … this is true even if it is not technically a “play”. All correct answers will have the entire rule or rules that pertain to the play. In addition, any comments to provide clarity would be added as a COMMENT: or annotation notation. If you have a picture for the rule great!. Each question will have a picture or flash movie, so you can supply it or I will, either was if fine with me. There are other factors easier to explain over the phone than in a post. There are 20 question/answer types, e.g., true/false, multiple choice, multiple response, fill in the blank, word bank, matching drag and drop, matching drop down, sequence drag and drop, to name a few. Here is an example of the GBR method I am referring to: http://www.greenbookrules.com/training/quizzes/GBR_Rule_2_Quiz/quiz.html Also, if you have quizzes you use for your district I can add a section under your name or district in the Quiz Bowl for your learners. I think I can have an email sent to you after a quiz is taken so you know how the learning did. I have not yet tested that function yet and do not know if my web server supports it or now, but I can certainly give it try. I look forward to partnering with you on this venture.
  8. G'day: I am pleased to announce Rule 7 The Runner is now online. This marks a major milestone because Rules 2 - 9 are completed. Of course these will be maintained and updated from time to time, but phase one of my e-learning plans is done. Phase 2 is quizzes. Phase three is mechanics. Phase four is sleep. http://www.greenbookrules.com/Rule_7_The_Runner.php Cheers, -- Roger Beutel www.GreenBookRules.com
  9. PLAY: Runner 1B. Ball grounded to 3. 3 to 4 for the force out and potential double play back to 1B but the ball gets past 4 and is recovered by 7. 1 covers 1B for the potential double play, whereupon 1 obstructs BR at 1B, U1 calls and signals the type b obstruction and awards BR 2B. Now to the meat of the matter: In your opinion was BR’s elbow to the back of 1 AND the subsequent push just baseball or unsportsmanlike conduct? NOTE: The 1’s hat is knocked off by the impact from the BR and upon first viewing of the video it might be confused with the baseball because part of the hat is white. Second question: If your opinion is that it is the above play is just baseball as opposed to unsportsmanlike conduct by BR, would the same hold true at Little Leagues Juniors, Majors, and all Minors? I recorded this at Aaron’s [my son] CIF-Southern Section Baseball Championships YouTube: [url=" "]
  10. PLAY: Bases loaded. Ground ball to F5. R3 sprints for home. F5 throws to F2 for the force out at home. (see YouTube video I shot below) From my perspective R3 intentionally interferes with the catcher by leaning into the catcher’s back with his left shoulder and elbow. Do you agree this rises to the level of runners interference or unsportsmanlike conduct? If so, what would your penalty be, i.e. how bad do you think this level of interference is; warning, bench, ejection or other? If you disagree, what is the reason and what do you see instead? YouTube: P.S. I can't seem to get the YouTube URL to work, any ideas why? Roger

    Nirvana!

G’day from Huntington Beach, California! I just discovered this site and my first impression is that I have stumbled upon umpiring Shangri-La. We are a baseball family. My wife, Kathy, is the president of Robinwood Little League. My oldest son, Aaron (Cub), played Little League from Minor B on, made TOC & All Stars, is a freshman pitcher and first baseman for Ocean View High School, and was called up this year to Varsity for CIF; Ocean View beat Bonita 2-1 to win the championship during the CIF-SS Division 3 Championship at Diamond Stadium on Saturday, June 5, 2010, in Lake Elsinore. My youngest, Adam (A-Bomb), stated Little League on Minor C, loves playing right field & pitcher, and hard earned his Combat B3 Da Bomb this year. Our daughters, Kaylee (KK) & Angela (Sparky), are master scorekeepers and champion cheerleaders for their brothers. As for me, I am a three time D62 Certified Umpire who’d rather be on the field than in the office. And I am a junkie, a Little League baseball rules junkie that is. For example, in order to satisfy my insatiable craving to master green book rules, I created a site called www.GreenBookRules.com. The idea here is to help volunteers (including myself) of Little League master the playing rules. I look forward to the fellowship and wisdom to be discovered here.
