Lines are completely in fair territory ... at least in a perfect world.

And let's be honest, the local whiskey drinker from each locale is probably the one that does those lines before each game haha

Explaining why, whenever I see poorly drawn lines, I remark  "Oh, look ! Otis drew the lines today!"

Wait till you see softball boxes on a baseball field.
there's a difference?

Generally a foot longer in the front for softball to allow for the slap hit.

Softball batter's boxes are approx. 28.57% in fair territory :P
