I have been following this site for a while, and have found a bunch of good info. Been umpiring LL for the last 2 years, and making the move to HS ball this spring. Look forward to the challenge, and also to more good topics of discussion on the boards.

Welcome officially to the board!
At any given moment half the people like you and half of them hate you. Out of the half that hate you only half of them know the rules. So really only 25% of them hate you at any given time.... I like those odds!

Great to have you! This is a perfect time to jump in as the season is about to kick off.

Hey, is the FED test the same time for every state or does it differ from state to state?

Welllll, it supposed to be the same but it seems that some freelance. I believe NY does a straight FED test. What I don't know is if it is online or paper.

WA I am pretty sure is straight FED. OR might be a slight modification. CA is its own special entity. :smachhead:

Thanks for the welcome, everyone. As far as I know, it is a paper test. We won't take ours until mid-late March. Us new guys are going through previous tests as study guides. So far, so good; the discussions I have read on the boards have helped me visualize the play and apply the proper rule. Can't wait to get on the field for some positioning and mechanics work. I hope the weather will be better than last year. A lot of rain last spring, and schools were struggling to get all their games in.

Good idea to learn. However, don't ever assume a question you're reading on the new test is the same as one on the old test. FED likes to change the wording, so make sure you read every question carefully.

Another word to the wise. Read the questions carefully and take in everything. But dont read to much into the questions. It can get you into more trouble than it is worth.
