Hi,
Getting set to start my second year back in umpiring.
First year back I did 78 games during 2011.
About 50% baseball, 50% fastpitch softball.
Most baseball 12U-13U, most softball high school JV. A 15 y/o baseball national team tryout where I saw fastballs nearly 90MPH; did a coach-pitch girls softball, a few 9U baseball. Quite a variety.
Trying to find my best 'niche' to focus time / energy on this next year. Leaning towards a local association (Chesterfield, cbsasports.com). Other possibilities are high school baseball in the spring; HS fastpitch again in the fall; a different local association in O'Fallon MO; one or two OF several area baseball tournament groups or a USSSA softball group.
Hope to attend the Mid-American Clinic if they have the local one in O'Fallon in January 2012.

Welcome Miata. Looks like you have a lot OF options out your way. I would recommend any clinic you can get too. Also ask the guys your working with/around that you respect about the different associations in the area. Good luck in 2012.
At any given moment half the people like you and half of them hate you. Out of the half that hate you only half of them know the rules. So really only 25% of them hate you at any given time.... I like those odds!

Welcome to the group. Are you looking for a high school baseball/softball association to join in the St. Louis area? If so, check out GSLAU (http://www.gslau.org). The best and biggest in the area.

Thanks! Joined GSL this year. Have met some OF the board members, had an evaluation.
Current Miata is a 2001; first was a white '90; 2nd one was a black '92 SE from which the red '01 got it's BBS wheels.

I had a 2000 until my son got runned over by a Semi then got an 04.
Don't have it anymore. Had to get something bigger for Umpiring.
