Hey guys, just joined the website. I'm Phil, 26 years old originally a Buckeye but life carried me into the Hoosier state. I've been umpiring for 2 years, mainly little league ages 11-18 but I have done the occasional travel team or high school summer league. Next Spring I will be enjoying my first year as a High School official, should be challenging but I have been working hard. This fall I was fortunate enough to attend a couple really good clinics put on by some of the top Umpires in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and they taught me quite a lot. As Umpires I find that we have a lot to teach each other, and that we are our best resource in terms of putting out a consistent product because in the end that's what it's all about. I'm really excited to get to talking with some of you guys, listen to your stories, and learn from you.
Hello from Indiana

Welcome to the site, Phil.
If you haven't already picked them up, I recommend getting the BRD and the Roder manual if you are going to work multiple levels including HS this year.
There are other really great titles, of course, but I am a new umpire as well, and I can tell you that they will make an instant difference.
PLEASE ask LOTS of questions. We love the discussions here and new guys ask some of the best questions. We are running a little dry right now. We are arguing about facial hair today.
Welcome!

Welcome to the site. There is a ton of experience here and some good topics. Ask away or tell us about something odd you have seen the last two years working. New guys should also have good game management questions also.
